Research Data Management and Open Access for Cultural Heritage

Research data management, open access, and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles are new challenges for researchers. This training will cover topics relevant to creating a data management plan for the cultural heritage field. We'll provide a basic introduction to file renaming, understanding datasets (GIS, 3D, Geophysics, etc.), organizing your dataset, and preparing it for a digital repository. During the discussion session, we will address copyright issues.

Please bring your own dataset, and we will answer questions using real examples.

Dr. Nurdan Atalan Çayırezmez is a Near Eastern Archaeologist and has a Ph.D. in Information and Records Management at Ankara University. She has a Master's degree in Settlement Archaeology from Middle East Technical University. She has expertise in using remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at archaeological sites. She worked as a Culture and Tourism expert for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (2004—2018). She is currently working at the BIAA as Digital Repository Manager.

Since 2021, she has been the founder and coordinator of Dijital Kültürel Miras Ağı (Digital Cultural Heritage Network in Turkey).
